White Rock Mountain: Spectacular View in the Ozarks
Sunset at White Rock
Deep in the Ozark National
Forest, White Rock Mountain
may well offer the most
spectacular sunsets in Arkansas.
The Ozark Mountains
Part of the Ozarks, White Rock
Mountain is the jewel of a vast
and wilderness area. For those
interested in seeing the world as
it once was, this is one of the
best places in the South to do it.
White Rock Mountain - Arkansas
Spectacular View
White Rock Mountain, Arkansas
It takes several miles of driving over a
bumpy dirt road to get there, but the
view from the top of White Rock
Mountain is worth the trip.

One of the highest points in the
Ozarks, White Rock Mountain takes its
name from the lichen that grows on its
rocky bluffs. From a distance, the
sheer cliff take on a brilliant white
appearance.

The park owes its existence to the
Roosevelt Administration and the
Great Depression. White Rock
Mountain was one of the hundreds of
public works projects undertaken
during that era. The park's lodge and
cabins, built of native stone and
timber, have been restored and once
again accept guests. The overlooks
and trails provide magnificent views of
the mountain and surrounding Ozark
National Forest.

White Rock Mountain is open to
visitors during daylight hours and
provides what may be the best sunset
views in the Ozarks.
